My 8 year old son and I made it out today after karate for a short hunt before the rain. We just got permission to hunt a house that is being remodeled slowly by the owner. The house dates to the late 1850's.

Since we had only 2 hours I decided to just randomly detect the yard. My sin decided on an area about 20'X20'. His very first signal with his F2 he found this ring about 5-6" deep. He was so excited. Them we brushed it off and could read the word sterling he about exploded!

The ring has some writing behind the word sterling we think says Kidd (something). And we are not sure if the stone is real or not. Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks for looking!

Hey hunts with son!! GREAT FIND!! CONGRATS!! I bet he really lit up when he found that one!! GREAT Experience being able to spend time with your son!! GOOD LUCK and GOOD HUNTING!! VERDE!!

Take it to a jeweler and tell them you found it MD, they will let you know what it is for no charge, I've done it a few times with different jewelers. Great find for your son and great memories for both of you. rings are very exciting.

Nice ring, I think your son will be hooked now on Treasure Hunting. I am waiting the rain out here in Maryland, I hope it stops, lol.

Yeah, its got that same word after sterling that starts with a K...never been able to tell what the word was...must be the makers mark.

I'm going to try and find out some info on the ring, my son really wants to know how old it is. If I find anything out I'll let you know
