My friend in Georgia found these two beauties in the same area. Didn’t know what they were until he cleaned them. Yee haw!! These were dug by Relichunter_71

Dude that's definitely a banner worthy plate. I don't know how much i would freak out if I saw that in the hole.

That's a plate I've never seen dug. They're only seen in the books. Beautiful!!

Omg, that is beyond outstanding. I so want to find a confederate plate of any kind. Killer man!

Thanks found this plate with my mxsport 11 1/2 inches deep VDI 73 75
So you joined the same day as the post, back to no chance again......oh well its an amazing piece.

I know this may sound crazy but I am not sure that is a South Carolina plate. It actually may be a Florida waist belt plate. I will try to find some info on it! Either way that is one heck of a find and congrats!

Here you go! Florida waist belt plate that may be pre civil war or militia. I'm sure it was used in the civil war but it actually would date pre civil war. Hope this helps! Maybe some experts will chime in but I am fairly sure that is not a South Carolina style plate as the border and palmetto tree do not match the ones I have seen. Awesome find either way and may be more rare being a Florida plate.Capture.JPG

Not worried about a banner got a plate in less then 4 years of detecting

I would of fell over dead if I had found that plate and would of got real sick if I'd just found the button. Those are great finds!!! d2

I'd likely die right there , & 'Hope' the wife would bury them back with me , or display with a ashes. lol

I would think that the "Florida" Plate would be less common & in that condition , WOW!!

It’s South Carolina already found it in books

Ok cool .

Found in SE Georgia or within 50 miles of Augusta ?

The CSA would have my head stuck in the ceiling 'alone' BTW is the button Pewter , Or Brass Or?

PM Me we can go hunt , lol
Also if 71 is your Birth year ? it's mine to "May 1971" :icon_thumleft:

What book because the one that I sent you has the South Carolina belt plate right next to it and yours matches the Florida plate exactly? The South Caroline plate has a different border and tree but if you say so!

A Florida plate is more rare and I personally would rather have a Florida Plate than South Carolina plate! Either one is a great find! I would love to see the book that has a South Carolina plate that looks like this one because I haven't seen one like it...

The Steve E. Mullinax book "Confederate Belt Buckles and Plates" lists it as a South Carolina with a rarity of 8+ . It says it's an early war plate manufactured in the South. Full fledged 100% Confederate when it's war time manufacture, not prewar like lots of state plates, which could or could not have been actually used during the war. Wow!
