For a year now i have been saying that the Sovereign is on the way out. It will join the musketeer...I have not seen a add in a treasure mag. for over a year for the Sovereign........I got my new product catalog from Minelab today ........... Big color adds for all there detectors ........ BUT NO ADD FOR THE SOVEREIGN................ I think i was right the Sovereign is on the way out........

Keppy,
You may be right in your assumption.
I just read a post on another forum that states that minelab is discontinuing the meter for the Sovereign.
I bought a Sovereign a year ago and also purchased a meter for it as I was told that it helps with the learning curve and after using it with the meter, I see that they are right and see the advantages of having the meter when searching for coins mixed with iron... I have dug more coins laying next to iron with this detector than any others I have used.
To be honest, I didn't realize how many coins could be lying next to nails and other bits of iron until I started using the Sovereign and it has made a believer out of me.
I think you are right.... driving the price up on the Sovereign will be the downfall of this detector just like the Musketeer.
I guess we'll hear more on this in the near future.
Felix

You could be right and once the inventory is sold off the Sovereign line dropped. For hard core Sovereign users though the Excals will still be around. My old XS model still has a lot of life left, maybe they made these too well with no major improvements and hurt replacement sales.Progress and change doesn't always mean better. HH Ron

I am thinking that now i should hang on to my Elite..

I can understand that.... Every time i got rid of mine i would end up getting another Sovereign..

I have read that some people say that NO the Sovereign is not being discontinued, But when you hear that theres really no more advertising for it, it makes you wonder. Yet most of us who know the machine dont need any advertisement to be convinced to buy one. My opinion is theres a newer radical design in the works, they would be nuts to get rid of them alltogether. As far as the meter its official, its no longer being made. I have a meter on backorder and my dealer told me that unless you have already ordered a meter you wont be able to get one, they are only filling orders already placed. So now I look at buying a GT with the meter as a great investment, they will be a sought after item even more than ever.

I'd still like to see the BBS & Digi type meter Built in
on a Design like the Explorers or X-terras

No New Bells & Whistles Just New Package.

Would be even more Awsome if they could Get in
with Sunray & Have the S1 Probe come Built in.

I have talked to the VP of Minelab America and I asked him about the Sovereign LINE being discontinued, his reply was a very strong.............

I really don't think they are going to let that information out.. To some one that is not employed with Minelab......Things like that are a company secret..... Just because you use there detectors they will not let the cat out of the bag to you.........Of course they are going to tell you that don't be so naive ..... If they are i would guess that 1/2 the people that work there don't know ....... Big companys like that know how to keep the lid on things.......... All i know i have not seen a add for the Sovereign for over a year now....... The same way there was no adds for the Musketeer for a year or more before it bit the dust........

The Sovereign GT is still advertised on Minelabs website which is where most people go to see Minelab's products, very few people get the catalog. I bet 100+ go to the website for every single person that gets a catalog............

So half the people at Minelab would not know they are killing off one of Minelab's top detectors, BUT you know.... ROFLMBO

Not one add in a treasure mag... I don't know if they are on the way out or not..... But one thing i would not believe what a company executive would tell me they are not known for being upright and honest even among them selves..................... But if they do and i said if.... I will come back and say to you,.....I TOLD YOU SO... :occasion14:

I wouldn't be too concerned about the meter being dropped. They are easy enough to make if you really have to have one.

Every single detector made by every manufactor is "on the way out", the unknown factor is how long.......

even though there are some clues that would lead us to believe the Sovereign is out, i confidently believe it is not, I do agree that companies do not release info on new designs until their almost ready to be revealed, look at the I- phone for instance, these things are kept secret for a reason, competition. Now years later other companies have had a chance to look at how it works and have designed similar phones.A company like Minelab would do itself no good lying to its customers. Too much competition. I do agree as well that people lie everyday unfortunately, I once worked for a restaraunt for 6 years that I started getting clues was going under, yet my manager said no way dont worry were just looking to find money to renovate, 2 weeks later I showed up for work and there was a sign on the door...... take a guess. When Minelabs ready theyll let us know. They are going through alot of changes from what I have read, which is a good thing, best to get your business running smoothly and confidently, before you advertise a new product.
