The monogram GC indicates the Spanish Guardia Civil (paramilitary Law Enforcement) which did serve in the Spanish Colony of Puerto Rico between 1869 and 1898.

What about the small gold plated cuff which is dated 1875. I found them at the same site no more than 5 feet from each other!
