Which/what beach ?

Ive seen some of the fakes and this one is just too far gone to be fake in my opinion, plus there is no "COPY" marking anywhere. I took it to a coin collecter here in town (Twin Cities) and he said it looked 17th century spanish but couldn't exactly confirm what it was.

IF that is a real coin... and not a copy...
You may have found a really ... REALLY good find.
This is why I ask which beach it was found on...
Some beaches in florida have been "seeded" with copies of coins.
AND some beaches are in near proximity of known locations of offshore shipwrecks...
By identifying the general location it can be deduced a little better as to the probability of your coins authenticity as well as the period of time/date.

To be a little more specific it was a few miles north of downtown naples. The atocha wreck isnt too far so that was one of my first guesses...

Is this you first find of this type ?
If it is...
DO NOT...
#1. Scrape surface layer off.... PERIOD. --- just gentle rinse.
#2. do not allow a coin person to "offer" you anything for the coin.
#3. Do not take to pawn shop for "testing"
.......................
BUT... this needs to be tested to continue to next step....

What type of metal do you think it could be. Could it possibly be silver?

And yes this is my first find of this type. My family has a house down there and i found it recently on a vacation

Tis not the Atocha...
Atocha is no where near Naples.

Ok... first I want to stress this...
IF in fact this is a real coin...
You have found a rare one.
Perhaps very rare.

I know it was off the keys but looking at the topography of the ocean floor, it is one big flat from the wreck site to Naples which led me to believe that after 500 years this stray coin might have finally washed ashore, but yes, i doubt it is from the Atocha

Could this possibly be silver? Can silver get this corroded?

Now... ready for your first step ?

You must weigh it.

Oh wow! Didnt realize that! lol but honestly what can i do to get more info on this? The guy i went to here in Minnesota didnt know anything about wreck coins and i was really hoping he would give me answers but he was no help. I reallllllly just want to know what i have, its killing me!

Ok just weighed it and it came in at 10 grams

IF real... you have found a VERY VERY RARE COIN... (and will def be banner here)
BUT... the condition of this coin CANNOT be lowered in any way.... meaning treat as though it is an eggshell
Handle with extreme care and do not drop it.
IT will need to be put through electrolysis.
DO NOT use "home remedies" to remove the encrustation...
This coin IF REAL is and will be one of the rarest coins posted here...
One of the rarest in Florida history in the fact they are rarely found in the location you stated...
there have been ones found there... but no one has ever seen one...
just stories and rumors...
that is if in fact it is real.
THEN comes the actual coin in question...
ITs amazing... period.
The strike... everything.
BUT will not know until it has been cleaned RIGHT to tell the coins attributes and flaws etc.
AND I REPEAT... IF..... IFF... real.

Its a cast copy/repro made from cheap metal.
