I guess who ever wrote this article was a little north of where they should have been. Cache and Beaver Creeks along the Old Fort Sill Road is in Oklahoma, not Kansas. Maybe the gold was coming from Kansas when it was hidden in Oklahoma.

Actually, Oklahoma as a state didn't exist at the time, not until November 16, 1907, and was still considered Indian Territory.
