I dug this little guy last weekend at an old cellar hole I just started working. I actually worked it a bit last year when I first got my detector. But, now that I've learned to slow down and really listen to the machine and understand what it's telling me, it's starting to produce a little. I also, dug a tombac and a flat button. The coin is an 1808 1/2 Real. It's a little smaller than a dime and paper thin. Too bad I scratched the face. Probably be the oldest coin I dig for a long time (if not ever). She was only down about 4 inches.

Thanks for looking.

sweet half real, Swartzie. those are always a pleasant site coming out of the ground.
it's probably just the dark patina of it, but i was wondering if it could be a counterfeit.
the silvering on some of the high points on the reverse caught my eye.
counterfeit or no, excellent find, and hope you can pull some more of the same out of your site.

I don't have one yet.
Great find!

Cool little half reale ,silver coin ,congrats !!!

A real two royal coin of King Ferdinand VII manufactured in Mexico, which needs cleaning.
Fernando VII was the best King of Spain during the 19th century, out of Spain to the French of Napoleon, returned to the people the lost moral order, but the empire was already in decline because of so many wars, nothing could be done we lost all the territories in America and Asia .......
Long live King Ferdinand! :notworthy:
