All,

I am VERY new here and have read hundred's ( possibly thousands ) of past posts. I have noticed there are many posts on finds and congratulations on said finds but very few posts on possible strategies for optimizing CRH finds.

For instance, being new, I see people searching well over 100 boxes of halves a MONTH -- $50,000+! How large of a bankroll do these people actually work with? Are you buying 4 or 5 boxes a day ( $2,000/$2,500 ), searching and dumping all of them the next day and re-buying? Are you able to dump all 4 or 5 boxes at a single bank? Are you having to spread-out a bunch of $200 dumps over multiple banks?

Or, did you start with a few hundred dollars, found some silver, sold that silver until you built-up to that $2,500 bankroll mark?

Do you ONLY dump at, say, Brinks banks and only buy from Loomis/Dunbar/Garda banks to prevent getting your same coins back?

Also, sometimes the tone of some messages is "I wanna do this other CRH'er wrong so he will quit buying from MY bank.". Seems to me there are VERY few of us in general than even think about this. With Treasurenet being the powerhouse on the web, I see a few hundred regulars on this forum. Seems to me, in the ideal world, we would know where everyone else searches, the preferred armored car serviced banks to dump TO and maybe we could stay off of each others toes.

Sorry for the rambling FIRST post but I think you guys ( and ladies :) have some great experience and wisdom to impart and I for one would love to be able to put this into some form of coherent strategy to approach CRH'ing!

This post is worth what you paid for it! Please let me know your thoughts.

I see that you are new to the forum.
Welcome.

Very few successful CRH'ers will simply hand you what they have worked so hard for.

You must READ the Beginner's guide, then go back and read all of the older posts to get any idea of strategies that work.

And you can forget about CRH'ers working in concert.
In the first place, its a loner's sport, and there are already too many opportunists that are very glad to find your silver vein and leave you with nothing but dumps.

Secondly, the banks would not bear the pressure of concerted ordering and dumping.

Start collecting your swing, start making buys.....learn. Then report what you want to report.

You have to have something to share before others will share with you.

Get Rollin' and Keep on Rollin'.

PD.

PD,

Don't misunderstand -- this wasn't a plea for someone to "do my homework" for me. It was more of a "has anyone ever thought about ...".

Now, the one question I DID include was just asking how most people get started -- start with $200, buy some halves, find a few, sell them and include with dumps and buy $225 in halves? Or, withdraw $5,000 from the bank and start pounding!

Had no idea a simple post would be taken so personally.

Your budget isn't that big of a deal, just use as much as your comfortable with. I personally started with a small $200 bankroll, and still find my fair share. You can accomplish solid volume with a small budget as long as you turn it over quickly.

az,

Thanks! I have read many times that "volume" is king but knowing that you started with $200 helps. Now, to figure-out how some of these folks turnover $50,000+/month with $200! LOL!

Thanks again...

There are quite a few folks here that have some pretty large budgets(atleast to me). Still, I can turn over $200, into about 10 or 15k a month.

WOW! 10K - 15K? That is some serious turning-and-burning with $200. Very impressive and gives me a little glimmer of hope!

However, THIS is what I meant initially by strategies for OPTIMAL CRH. Having the ability to search large quantities with a small investment.

Thanks again.

I always say the lower the bankroll, the more you have to watch your costs.

If you have $100, but are driving to the bank over and over, to flip clad, your costs are going to be higher, especially with the amount of silver you are finding for $100.00.

As opposed to someone who is working with $1500.00 doing the same thing. They are likely to find more silver with the $1500.00 offsetting time/costs.

Hope this helps, its the analyst part of me.

I just started about 2 weeks ago buying no more than 250 at a time. Mainly I didn't buy more because you have to order a box to reliably get 500+ at a time. I just picked up my first full box this am! I'm in class atm otherwise I'd be going through them now. They're yellow rolls, I think they're brinks but the bank wouldn't tell me who they get coin from. My best newbie tip would be to hit every bank in your area. I probably hit 25 dif banks over these 2 weeks. Find your fav bank and keep searching for new silver veins.

Gilmore,

I had already wondered about the ideal bankroll/trip sizing -- definitely something to keep in mind.

dossier,

I will be sure to check as many as possible early-on to try and find my favorite bank(s).

One question I really wonder about is does everyone save ALL of their silver or do you sell some/a percentage/40% silver to increase bankroll size. Or, do you save it ALL and just add cash when you can?

Thanks all.

You said it. There are different approaches. What is optimal for one might work for another, but not be optimal. Experiment.

If you are surrounded by banks, you can more easily spread your dumps. It is always easier to dump smaller quantities and you are less likely to draw undue attention with a small, mixed bag dump. However, if you do it every other day at the same branch, it might sour that branch faster than if you did 5x the dump volume once every 10 days. You have to learn the personality of each branch that you want to exploit - that is what you are doing, exploiting them for a service they offer, but not in the way you use it. Because each branch's tolerance will vary, you need to learn it. You'll feel the vibe from the tellers.

Use your swing funds to the max and turn them as often as you can. That is how you get the volume. Where you spend your swing funds and how you turn them can only be optimized by trial and success (or trial and error if you are the pessimist). If you can afford to tie up $1k, do it. If it is only $200, do that. So long as you can find supply with what you have to spend, you're searching. You always find more when searching than when not searching.

For me, the second most frustrating thing that happens is when I ask for coin, can only get a partial of what they are willing to give me, and then find more than expected Ag. My gut aches until I get back to that location and get the rest of it.

Good luck.

madwest,

Thanks for the encouraging words.

I like the thoughts on "mixed" dumps and 5X size every 10 days rather than X every two days. Really some great wisdom here.

About cashing in your silver, this is my approach. Find someone who wants to buy it from you or find somewhere. Just so you know you can get rid of it if you want to. Happy hunting!

There is no "One size fits all" answer. As you said you have read "hundreds or thousands" of posts.

-Everyone has a different sized bankroll
-Everyone has a different amount of time they can dedicate to CRHing
-Everyone has a different amount of time they "want" to dedicate to CHRing, the 2 are indeed very different!
-Everyone has a different goal for CHRing. Some people want to make money off it for the here and now, some people want to hoard for the uncertainties of the future, some people just want to find some "because its cool" , other people want to find it for collections instead of buying it.

I don't think Piledriver is taking anything personally, he's just giving you a very black and white answer.
This is not a "team sport" unless your wife/husband/best friend have a operation going. No one is ever going to say, "Ya go to the City National on Main Street, They always have loose silver+tons of boxes in the vault......"
We share tips & tricks, but not all out reports on what is best in every neck of the woods, you have to figure that out through your own trial & error, and gleaning what you can off the hundreds of posts you have read.
Like someone said here, "I may share a few tips about fishing, but I am not going to tell you where my fishing hole is at"

Volume is king and it just depends how much time you have. Dream scores will always trump volume, just depends if you have a horseshoe up your rear end to ever find one....i haven't yet :-)

One other question you had was about picking up and dumping. Typical answer is don't buy from your dump bank. I get 2k a week from a branch of one of my dump banks and I routinely find silver in the boxes. Depends on the size of the metro area you are in, but with silver being so high per oz theres tons of people hunting. So the chance is very real no matter where you supply/dump at you will get your own dumps , but people will also be putting good stuff i.e. Silver, back into the system from "grandpa's collection" at all different banks as well. I wouldn't source more than 10-20% of your halves tho from your dump bank chains just out principal, but I don't think it matters that much.

Many different ways , many different goals.
Figure out what you want, make a plan, and execute it!

Good luck and HH,
Bigheed

you're welcome.

So the general wisdom is CRH by the box is the better chance of finding silver than going to five different banks and buying $100? or ten banks and buying $50? ( You get the idea... )

Thanks for the wisdom...

They dont and they dont find much silver on a regular basis. The thing to remember is to think about gas etc#1 it costs to drive all over town to pick up a 10 roll of halves and hope they have silver in them. Start with at least 500 so you can order a full box otherwise most of the time you will be picking up other peoples dumps

I prefer large groups from 1 bank at a time, mainly just as a time savings, helps the probability to statistically speaking...still need luck on your side!

Plus, the single box re-addresses the EXPENSE issue of visiting multiple banks, unless they are on your way...

More food for thought!

Thought of 2 more strategic avenues for you....

1. If you in the Phoenix area, I would pray and fast before going out and looking for halves, let alone silver ones. And if you ordering boxes of halves, best strategy would be to quit now.

2. In the words of the famous Lawrence Taylor, Don't smoke crack.

Follow this advice, and youre golden.
