spent brass shotshells (12 guage)

Pretty cool to find these brass shot shell heads. not sure why someone is blasting a 12 guage in a cemetery. Are these pretty common?

one reads: REM-UMC no. 12 NITRO CLUB
theother: REM-UMC no. 12 NEW CLUB

They may have been from 21 shotgun salutes for fallen duck hunters..... ..Not GE

Those are around 1900, I believe. I just found a few of those UMC clubs this summer.
