"SPRING GULLY SETTLEMENT PART 1" 9 HOUR MEGA MADNESS

Hi all, Sunday night here and i only got home about an hour and half ago and its nearly 11 pm.Yes i,m am in the dog house with the wife for being late.I asure you i will be sleeping on the couch for a week but it was worth it. ;D ;D ;D.Well i headed of after lunch and when got too the site i just didn,t know where to start so the larger ruins seemed to be a good spot to start. That was my first mistake and the second mistake was ,I thought if i stay away from the junk heeps i might find some cleaner ground and there was none..The third mistake was my chose of md i used a deep seeking Minelab sd 2200 for depth but used a Double-D coil which still allows you to use discriminator mode.Which only works to about 6 inches and any thing deeper becomes dig everything. :-\ :-\
You cannot get a truck or car in here and its about a 10 minute walk to get hear.So i tried my luck around the buildings footings and found a few relics [buckles, buttons, few old copper coins and a spoon] gee by the amount of cast steel and shards of pottery i mit even get something worth posting but this site will take years to completely sweep.Spent all afternoon trying to find something cool but it wasn,t to be.Had a great time and i will sleep good tonight on the couch.

tinpan heeps of pic of everything.

Sounds like a good day out. It's WAY too hot up here to go out for that long!

Just an observation....one of the pieces in your first photo looks kinda like an evil giant pulltab ;)

Have fun,
Salvager

Well Tinpan, at least you get to sleep in the house tonight! Looks like a sniper coil in that spot might help but we know you will clear through the junk & make some great finds! Can you post a close up of that button after you've cleaned it? :)

I think it's a glove button. There are also "Dent's Make" shoe buttons.

Hey, is that a shoe buckle? I really like complete buckles like that. Somweone said in a post above it looks like a pull tab but I feel certain its a buckle. HH, Gary

Great pics TP, at least you found some interesting relics and coins to keep your interest. You are right, where to start at a site like that? Are those homesteads? How about on the sunny side of the house where clothes lines may have been. Were there any outhouse? Can you get an aerial view from google earth? That place has some serious potential, just got to find the hot spots. HH, Mike

Great finds - let me guess you were late home because of the full moon ;D

Remember the days when you used to get in trouble for coming home late from the pub - at least you had some coins in your pocket last night (not that we know what they are yet)
