Relic Hunting
While out metal detecting an old lumber, vegetable and railroad ghost town out in the middle of nowhere on a friends property I came across a railroad lock. I was originally just scouting the area because there is two towns that her family owns in the nearly 2.2 miles of land they have between the two towns. I found this one at the first town which was primarily a railroad town and one they would unload passengers and get water for the engines. Unfortunately the front plate is missing, it looks like someone may have lost the key and beat this one off the car but I found it about 11” deep. I’ve been letting it sit outside trying to let Mother Earth clean it for me but finally decided after the long civil war hunt we had yesterday that while I was cleaning all that up I might as well clean this up. Not much to look at but it’s a cool old piece of American history.
