STACK'EM HIGH!!!!

Finally made a decent score. Got $100 in halves from one bank this am. There were 50 part silver halves in the 10 rolls! Stopped at another bank on the way home and scored another 15 part silver halves out of 16 rolls. Just over 9.5 ounces on a Saturday morning....

Thanks! It was my only great day this year. It's funny though because last year was my best ever...300 ounces...1500 coins.

Nice job! I believe what you're referring to as "part silver" you mean 40%ers, correct! We have 40 and 90% halves. Technically both are part silver.

Congrats on a nice find. Were they customer wrapped rolls (cwr) or machine wrapped rolls (mwr)? I'm guessing they were cwr. Check the back of the 66 to see if they have the designer's initials (FG). If they're missing the FG than they would be a error coin. Also weigh the 65s as some of them were minted on 90 blanks instead of 40% which also makes them a error coin. A 40% coin will weigh 11.5 grams while a 90% coin weighs 12.5 grams & a clad half will weigh 11.3 grams. The key date for the 40% (65-70) is 1970. Also 7 40% halves weigh just over 1 ounce so you have between 7 & 8 ounces of silver not 9.5 ounces. It still is a great find.

I got 40%'s that ranged from 11.1 to 11.75 grams, out of 30 coins most were about 11.35-11.45 but many heavier and about 6 lighter, including the 1967 that was 11.1

The scale I use, I got from my local md dealer. I find my 40% weigh between 11.4 grams - 11.7 grams. The difference can be due to wear on the lighter coins & I think the 40% blanks may be a little heavier at times. BTW I only weigh my 65 halves as they are the only halves that were also minted on some 90% blanks by mistake as far as I know.

... Also 7 40% halves weigh just over 1 ounce so you have between 7 & 8 ounces of silver not 9.5 ounces. It still is a great find.

I found 65 total halves. So that is about 9.5 ounces. You were calculating for 50 halves I think.

Thanks for the help with the errors. I know about them but I haven't checked. I do have about 4000 40%ers stacked though...

I decided to go through all the 40% and 90% I found this past month and got a range of 11.1 to 11.80 PLUS ONE 1967 that weighs 12.55, that is the same as the 90%ers.
My 90% were from 12.40 to 12.55 plus one at 12.70

I don't see any hint of a sandwich with the 1967 that weighs 12.55 however there are many 40% that don't show any copper,

What is going on with that one?
