Yesterday's after work hunt was successful. The Standing Liberty Quarter is almost worn slick (but I think she's purty). A Rosie, a silver plated spoon, 1 wheatie, 1 MO tax token, 2 keys, 1 hem weight, 1 button, 1 buckle and 30 cents clad. Thanks for peeking and HH.

At first glance, I don't see any stars under the eagle.
If so, then it's either a 1916 or 1917.
Great save even if stars are there.

After more inspection, I believe it's a type 2. Even though there's no evidence of stars (probably completely worn away) the distance from the bird belly to the rim looks to be more than what a type 1 typically has.

The Variety 1 Standing Liberty has hair at the back of the head that comes to a point. The Variety 2 has hair at the back of the head that is more rounded and points downward. Yours has the pointed hair which makes it a Variety 1 1916 or 1917. Nice find.
