I found this at old homestead and I aint got a clue to what is..Its 14 3/4 long and 1 1/2" wide...

Hard to say exactly. Does look like a forged tool made from an old buggy axle. Tony

Looks like a big old drift punch to me... The tip has a slight taper, correct?

Whether it started life as a punch or not, it's sure been used as one!

It may have been used by a blacksmith to open the eye of an axe, hammer head and such. I watched a video on this once. Google axe eye drift.
