Found some months back, on first glance one might have dismissed this as a zippo lighter, but it was after a recent episode of "antiques roadshow" where someone had a collection of matchsafes, this that I found is marked "sterling" and has the letter "P" engraved on one side............

Very nice old match safe. Is there a striking area on bottom? Great Find! You may polish it without hurting its value.

Yeah, you can see the striking area in the photos..............

on the bottom, I gave thought to having it shaped up and polished at the jeweler, but currently it is in a display case, it can always be repaired in the future, or, should it be "cleaned" at all? :-\

Nice piece of silver you have there.... would be nice if you could restore it back into shape ::)

Thanks for showing us.

God bless

Excellent find.

As far as cleaning or polishing, don't!

As for restoring it's original shape, do! You should take that to a silversmith who has specialized dies they can use to reshape it. Without inspecting it in person, it looks like it could be restored from your pictures, hopefully there aren't any creases. People do collect those and its probably worth having it restored.
