sterling ring

Ok, I couldn't take it anymore and had to go outside to MD. It got up to 43 degrees today and since it rained last night it melted alot of the snow. So I got to dig in the mud today. I found 52 cents in clad and a sterling silver ring. I am not sure about the stone could be a Ruby , Garnet or even fake?. It is a deep red and smooth on the top. The ring has been resized because you can see the line where it was cut. On the inside of the band it says Sterling and there is an O on the inside near the stone. Thanks for looking. I can't believe I have found 3 rings my first year.
