I looked up the symbol. the "9" is the thimble size and the "Fouled Anchor" symbol is the hallmark for Stern Brothers out of Philadelphia.

Anyone who knows how to date these things, comments are welcomed. I found it buried in a berm at a local park. Old aerials show it was a pasture with a farm house near by.

Here's four Stern Bros. thimbles on Ebay. One says from 1908 to 1912. One says after 1913.
One has markings on the inside top of the thimble.

No markings anywhere on the inside. ONly what is pictured, except for an inscription "Nellie" which is kinda cool.
