Yep. Still summertime in Bama. Hot, sultry 90 degree days that's keeping the hunting time to a minimal...but the pools open for business and the sweet iced tea is being served.

Hey Judy....we got your float! :D

I really thought we'd get a break from the heat today, with Faye being so close, but not today! :P Sunny and hot all day long. Terri and I went out this morning to one of our favorite spots. We hunted under all the shade trees and was tempted and strayed a few times out into the sun. Got a few neat things but no silver today.

Ford key
Derringer
spoon
change
one wheat... looks like 1923
miner's tags...one with the company name it. (1882-1887)

On Tuesday I hunted in the country for a few minutes...only keepers from there was a buckle, change and a button with an archer on it...A bit difficult to see..but he's there.

Hey! Thanks, ya'll! :)

I thought that button was pretty neat, Civil, but I haven't looked into it yet. Maybe I can find something on it. :) Thanks!

Sweet tea for sweet Burdie!

MM...Well...it looks like a reflector. But I don't know what for. :D

They love it, RR. :)

Sweet tea all around, Silver! :occasion14:

John...Yes, the grass is getting pretty crunchy around here too, but the pool is shaded most of the day, so it can still be on the nippy side at times. :P :D Hope you get some of this rain! And I know what you mean about the wheat penny! You know it's been a while when you're excited over finding a wheat! :P I was excited! :D

Prober....There are coal mines all over the place here. That particular one is from a mine company that was open from 1882 to 1887. The way I take it, when a miner went down into the mines, they had to leave a tag that had their identifying number on it, up top...(in the office?) so that if anything happened, the worker would be accounted for. And then when he came back up, he'd retrieve the tag from the office....Also...was told, but don't know how true it is, that when they were working in the mines and loading the hoppers with coal, they had to attach a token with their number on it to get credit for the work. Not positive on it, but I'm sure MonDak would know a lot more on the subject than I. :)

Joe...give me a holler when you're passing by and we'll all meet up for dinner. :)

Mon! Great to hear from ya! I haven't done that much hunting this summer either. Too hot! :P I'll look for your post!

Nicky....you always know how to make me feel at least 20 years younger! :D THANKS!! :-*

Got it, Beefy! Thank you sooo much!!!

Half...those rings have been in the same place so long, I doubt I could get them off it I tried to! :P :D

Bob...Thanks! I have found several Ford keys like this one. Two of them had a neat looking 'future' car stamped on them. Ford must have been popular around here back in the day. :D Enjoy that 73 degrees! 8)

Thanks again, ya'll! Take care~ Nana :)

Nice finds and pics Nana, stay cool!

I know Saturday evening it was so hot and humid here you could cut the air with a knife!

Good stuff as usual Nana. Pool looks good too.

Nana, what's that to the left of the spoon and yellow tag that is oblong and looks like brass? Looks like the tip off a sword sheath, there's a name for it but beats me what it is? Monty

I think you mean a scabbard Monty, that is what it looks like in pic the tip protector :icon_study:

Thanks ya'll! :)

Monty...I'm thinkin' that's an old lipstick tube. :-*

Nana

Great "Shade" huntin' Nana!!! The pool looks too cool......

Keep safe...

Keith
