Has anyone ever heard of a stirling engine? It operates by taking advantage of flow of heat energy from on area to another.
The flow doesn't have to be from hot to cold, it can run off of cold water.
What if you had one in the dessert and it used the temperature differance between a few feet or inches underground and the heat aboveground?
