Stolen Headphones & 2 Hitchhikers

Found a place on Google earth, it's a river in southern Alabama & I thought it would be a nice bank to look on, it also looked like a party spot of kids! Well when I got there my headphones started acting up so I took them off & placed them at the base of a tree to pick up on my way out, yep............ you guessed it, they were gone by the time I got back! Oh well, if they were acting up then they were bound to die anyway, let the person that took them throw them out!

I found $2.76 in change, a lipstick tube and alot of pulltabs, next time out I'll get into the water, it's a beautiful sandy river! Might be some silver & gold in it's grips!

Oh and the 2 hitchhikers........................... woodticks! I guess I can't get away from them down here either!

Well, if you weren't around they probably thought someone had lost them. I found a telephoto camera lens on a park bench once and waited around for about an hour and no one ever came to claim it so I took it home. Found out it was worth a couple hundred bucks. I checked the lost and found in the local paper several times and no one ever reported it, so I sold it to a guy for $150.00. Kinda' like finding treasure. Monty

I will place something at the base of a tree,
do some hunting, it's gone.

Happens so often.....................

Could be I just cannot find the right tree. :P
Heck, I often have a hard time just getting back to the main road.

The little hitchhiking SOBs are dangerous too if left on the skin for 2 or 3 days. Several cases of Lime's Disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever are reported here in OK where I live every year. There are several ways to get them off you but most imortant is not to leave the head imbedded. I keep a small bottle of Oil of Wintergreen in my medicine cabinet. I take a cotton swab and put just a tiny bit of the oil on the tip and just barely touch it to the tick. He will usually let go and fall out within 30 seconds or so. Don't get the oil on your skin though or it will burn the skin. Take care. Monty

That's interesting, I've never heard of that before.. Usually I just pull them out making sure the head ain't left behind!

Seger 98, I discovered that method by accident when I was rubbing some diluted OOWG and alcohol on my sore arm and found a tick. Out of curiosity I dabbed a bit of the pure stuff on him and he came out like his arse was on fire. It probably was come to think of it! When you just pull him out you squeeze his body and get some of his body fluid or whatever that nasty stuff is inside the bite. I use to do that and often it left a sore spot that took several days to heal. With the Wintergreen it just leaves a little red spot. Monty

Well the headphones are like anything else. You look around and think someone discarded it.

What would you have done if you saw head phones just sitting there and possibly no one around?

Ticks.. Hate em . Hate mosquitos too.
