Stone Marble?

I was out looking for arrowheads when I saw this marble on top which I thought was a musket ball till I passed my detector over it and it didnt beep. So then I thought it was a clay marble. But it dont scratch. When I drop it from a tiny distance on the table it sounds like stone. After looking at it real close and tapping it on my teeth lol..I found that it is stone. So did Indians make stone marbles? Also Its not perfectly round

Looks like a clay marble to me with some glazing. Maybe an old benington. German marble,1880's.
Post it in the marble section with coin for size. They will help you there.

An industrial drum loaded with ceramic or steel balls used to pulverize a material to powder. Think kid's rock tumbler on steroids.

Yes, the Indians made stone marbles..
But I agree this one looks clay..
The stone marbles are usually much darker in color..

I lost mine too, but I say yours is clay,we find them in some pretty earlysites

Everybody is correct, Yes it's clay fired to make ceramic,and if yours is hard as you say and seems dense for size then it's most likely ceramic.Here's two I found I could get to easily.The white one thats broke is ceramic kinda heavy,the other is clay and light.

Yup it looks just like the white one in your hand. Pretty cool its the first ceramic one I have ever found.
