Stone Tool
you know you're really cool

I went back to the new spot I just found a couple weeks back and he had planted all of his fields, but he told me to go ahead and hunt anyway if I wanted. He said they had a little rain on them last night so I figured I'd give it a shot. It was dry as a bone, but it did have some rain and the Flint was everywhere. Unfortunately I didn't find one good Point, but I found two Pestles, one a killer Bell type, and a broken Full Grooved Axe so I was happy with the day. I also found a ton of Flake Knifes and Scrapers. I can't wait until we get a good rain on it. I have a feeling some killers are going to come out of there.

Here are some in situs of the Pestles and the Axe, plus the only Point of the day and the days finds. All of the Stone Tools I actually got pictures of after I either flipped them out or kicked them with my boot. If you look closely at the in situ of the first Pestle you can see the clean spot that was showing and when I kicked it it rolled out. Made my day for sure.

Also, every piece of Flint is a Flake Knife with an edge worked on it somewhere.

wow, that looks like it will be a productive field! nice finds

Congratulations! That is a nice days haul.

I'd love to find a nice pestle. I have a few mortars...looking for the top. Very nice finds.

Thanks creek. You guys finding much up your way? Lack of rain down here has really hurt this Spring. Last year it was too much rain and they couldn't get the fields plowed and this year they have been turned for a long time and are dry as a bone. Can't win for losing.

I like bell pestles...good stuff steve.
