Hello! Walking along a trail in upstate NY and found this.. I think it's a tool because it fits my hand perfectly. What do you think?

A tool would show evidence of being used as a tool....likely as marks or scraping along a leading edge. I don't see any evidence of that.

Sorry, but it's just a cool rock that fits your hand.

That'd be great; as best I can tell, the ones you posted are lacking any appearance of being worked. I'm certainly no expert on the subject..

The amazing thing about hands is they are pretty good at gripping 3 dimensional shapes. (Rocks, sticks, puppies, apples, eggs, turtles, etc. etc.)

The fact a rock found fits the hand is the marvel of the human hand, not a sign it was formed by human hand.

When you find a worked artifact, there very rarely is any question that it is one. The exact use of it might be unknown, but they really are unmistakable.

Probably just a rock, but keep looking. If you think about it, almost everything you can pick up 'fits your hand perfectly'.
