I just got this idea from another thread.

We've all seen these types of threads before but I just wondered if there was anything new or maybe some would like to share their old strange and humanly unexplainable happenings.

I find this sort of thing very interesting.

I just posted one of my own up in Today's Finds.

I know this thread probably won't have a long lifespan but it should be fun while it lasts.

Here's one story of many:

Years ago (early 80's) I was trying to decide if I should go to college. I was detecting a park and digging lots of wheats and indians at the time. I got a signal and before digging it I asked for a sign that I should go to school.

I dug a long odd piece of metal. Suddenly I realized it was an old type piece like they used in the old typeset printing presses.

I thought how in the world could this be a sign?

Then the thought came to me to ask that if it has my first initial on it this will be my sign to enroll.

I cleaned it off and there it was---my first initial in capital font.

I still have it but for obvious reasons I don't share this story much.

By the way, I graduated and the education totally changed my entire life for the better.

Great find you have there and yes--miracles do happen.

I sometimes have metal detecting dreams about sites that I will be hunting, but haven't gotten around to yet.  It is not strange or unexplainable to have these dreams, since I eat, breathe, and think metal detecting with every waking hour.  BUT...it IS strange and unexplainable that I have had these dreams only about sites which have turned out to be Fantastic sites.  The first one I dreamed about was an old neighborhood ballfield last in use in the 40s.  It is now a cow pasture.  I got permission, got on the site, and dug close to a hundred old coins out of it over the years.  The field was still giving up an occasional coin ten years after I first detected it.

At another site, I found two Spanish Silver coins and my first belt plate of the year this past year.  I had vivid dreams of that site too.

That, I can't explain.

Thanks for the really cool post, Buckleboy! That one made the whole thread worthwhile

I've had dreams of doing things and being places and then ending up living them. So, I do know what you mean.

So far nothing treasure related though. :'(

Any ideas on what's behind the dreams?

Lets put it this way--it ain't no dream

OK! How about this one.

You pull up to an intersection and another car pulls up opposite you. You both proceed through the intersection and look at each other as you pass, going off in different directions.

You go to the bank, post office, stop for gas, and go in to Wallyworld for an hour or so of poking around. You start for home and remember that you wanted to check out something at the tractor store. On the way back home you decide to stop and get a bottle of drygas. Finally, you are headed home.

You pull up to the same intersection, and low and behold, pulling up from the opposite direction is the very same car from 2 hours ago. You again look at each other as you pass through, probably not thinking too much about it. But, as the years go by, you have occasion to relive the events in your mind as you try to make sense of such a trivial coincidence.

Or is it just a coincidence????????? Was it meant to be?? Was it just dumb luck?? Who knows!

One thing I do know is that I can never stop thinking about that moment in time. Maybe Rod Serling is in another dimension telling all this to his listeners, and I was the star of his TV show. doodoodood doodoodoo You have entered the Tnet Zone!

I know of another fella who has that exact same story. ;D

Great stories guys! Mine's not MD-related but it's the most bizarre thing that's happened to me.

In 1994 I lost a good friend to suicide who was an avid Metallica fan. One day a few weeks after all this went down I was driving home alone from a movie that happened to be about the afterlife. It got me wondering and I said aloud as I drove and listened to the radio "Fred, give me a sign that you're okay. Make the next song on the radio a Metallica song."

I waited for the current song to end and the DJ came on, did a couple of ads and announced the next tune, which wasn't a Metallica song. The station cue came up and I readied myself for the disappointment. Then there was silence...for about ten seconds. Nothing. The DJ comes back on and says "Well, that's what happens with live radio people, uh, you know what, let's put some Metallica on..." I COULDN'T BELIEVE MY EARS! Not only was the way it happened a shocker, but the song he played was one I'd never heard before...and it was about suicide. I drove home sobbing.

Miss you buddy...

Sometimes things are just what they seem.
Dreamed about paddling down the river in the old canoe and happening upon two piers, old and abandoned long ago. Stopped off between them to stretch out and poke around a bit. Then a terbile commotion preceeded some unseen beast approaching from the weeds and no matter how far out onto either pier I went I could not reach the canoe. Never realized a threat from the unseen beast and never reached the canoe.

Just got stuck on a pair a' docks.

Probably a combination of fantasizing about digging 24-7 and eating supper late at night LOL. Maybe I'll have a dream about a site that doesn't pan out eventually and prove myself wrong. Or maybe I'll waste Months of hunting on a pointless site just because I've had a dream about hunting it. :tard:

This didn't happen to me but to a very good friend of mine. My friend and his brother were pretty close and one of their favorite things to do was mushroom hunting in the spring. His brother passed away and the following spring a patch of morel mushrooms popped up in his back yard. Not in a place where they would ever be but right out in the middle of a very well cared for lawn. They had never been there before or since. He truely believes this was his brothers doing.

Go back to that intersection and check to see if there's a large building located there that has a large mirror fixed to it's side. I know that doesn't solve the whole mystery but it's a start.

Did you ever see the Twilight Zone episode "The Hitch-Hiker?"

Don't know if this is the kind of thing you are looking and it isn't about me but it happened... here goes

After receiving a class ring, a local girl looses it in the local reservoir.
Years go by, she moves out of town, lives in another town, then gets
married and moves to Texas for years. Her father passes and she comes
back and takes over the bar he owned. One day over thirty years after
loosing the class ring she gets a call, a fisherman claims he found the
ring in the belly of a walleye caught in a Minnesota lake, and researched
it to find her. He sends her the ring and it is her's. The strangest part is
the reservoir she lost it in drains into the Missouri River from the west,
no where near Minnesota.

The power of the mind can be a fascinating thing. Can it make us see what isn't there or can it make things asppear because we want them to appear?

Years ago when I was very young I really got caught up in miracles and all of that. I read some of those "faith healer" type things, etc.

I decided one day to give it a try.

I went out into the woods behind our place and asked very intently to see deer run by in front of me. I went about another 100 yards and a bunch of deer crossed right in from of me and weren't the least concerned that I was there.

Still not believing it I asked to see a ruffed grouse (game bird) and I no sooner asked than one flew in front of me.

As I recall I asked again for deer and a bunch came out and ran right by me when I was nearly home.

The odd thing about all these happenings was we rarely saw a deer in that area and partrage were extremely scarce.

I had one more episode that was similar and I decided to call it quits. It was just too spooky for me.
