Hi Everyone,

Was able to get out today for about an hour before the rain started coming down hard.

Found some clad, and then these two coins next to an old shotgun shell at a field at one of the local
schools by my house.

One of the coins definitely looks likes like it is asian, not sure how old or what kind, but the other coin is
really strange, they were actually stuck to each other and about 1 foot from the shotgun shell. Not sure
if the 2nd "coin" is really even a coin or just play money or a token.

If someone could please take a look or make any suggestions on where I might be able to find out more info
on both of these coins I would appreciate it.

Thanks and HH!

-Ben

Well after a little research on the first coin, looks like it is a Japanese 50-Yen coin

"The 50-yen coin is made of copper mixed with nickel and shows a chrysanthemum flower. The chrysanthemum is the national flower of Japan and the symbol of the ruling family—the Emperor and his relatives. Some American coins use olive branches, which are a symbol of peace."

Hello, Gary in mn. the Winchester repeaters is a 12 gauge shotgun shell end...the primer has been spent...you can see where the firing pin has hit the primer...repeaters was a very popular brand...1940's

Gary

I found a website that says the shotgun shell is dated from 1896-1938 (Winchester Shotshell Headstamps) and the 50-Yen coin is from between 1959-1966.

Winchester Repeater (10, 12: 1896-1938, 16 and 20 gauge: 1896-1938, 24 ga: 1905-1921, 28 ga: 1905-1938, 32 ga: 1916-1925, 410 2": 1916-1927, 410 2.5":1923-1927, 410 3": 1936-1937) after 1927 most had made in USA on Headstamp. Yellow paper shells. Between 1901 and 1920 had a 1901 on the headstamp instead of Winchester

I believe that the other coin is from Thailand's 1946 tin series. Not sure on denomination as the size is not clear. Yours may be suffering from "Tin Pest".

OMG Plumbata, I think you found it! Thanks so much, I will look more into it.

Take care,
Ben

Thanks Don.

Thanks Gary.

That 50 yen coin is Showa 39 (1964). They minted that particular style from 1959 -1966. Made 69.2 million in 1964.
