It my front yard up for a little bit last night and dig every signal. My yard is tiny and I live in suburban pittsburgh

Got a Hand full of clad. And then dug a fired 30-06 rifle shell marked tw 54. So year made is 1954. My house was built in 1951. And being in suburban pittsburgh you wouldn't think to find fired brass here. I would love to know if it was a drop or if there is a better story behind it

You never know where you're going to find brass. I have found many in parks, school yards and on "beaches" at lakes even. I always shake my head and think it's strange too.

Have you looked at old maps of your area from around the time? It might not have been so suburban back then. It could have been from a return trip from camp or someplace. A lot of guys went off to camp and hunted back then, somebody could have lost it out of a jacket pocket or something also. Neat find though.
I'm just north of you towards Saxonburg. I love my yard, it's a little bigger (1.6 acres) and it gives up to coolest goodies.

I've found fired bullets and brass casings in locale parks. I found the bullets in a bad area of town but I found a .17 HMR casing in a tot lot.

Maybe a prior owner reloaded his own and dropped it on their way into the house.

I can't tell you how it got there (they show up in the strangest places) but I can tell you the T.W. stands for Twin Cities Arsenal in Minneapolis.

I am in Baldwin above streets run rd. a lot of the houses were built here in the 40s and 50s

I am a second owner on the house and I know the previous owner didn't hunt
I figured it was a drop from someone

Must be nice to have the 1.6 acres that gives up some goodies. Definitely struggle over this way I find anything older. I have some spots in South Park I wanna check. But it seems like most of the parks I. The area are full of trash and newer coins. The only silver I pulled out of the ground was in my backyard

Very crazy the different and scary
Places every one is finding brass

It all depends on where you live. My subdivision now is close quarters houses, but 60 years ago it was all woods and farmland. I've found numerous shotgun headstamps (paper ones) in my yard. Even dug an old pocket watch down about 8" near a big tree. It's been there a while I'd say. At some point everything was pretty much open space.

I cant tell you how many bullets I have found. The most common place has been school yards first and parks second. Some brass, some unfired, some slugs that were fired. I always shudder when I find the fired slugs in the schoolyards. Have stopped collecting them as there are so many. Don't want to know where they came from. WP_20140710_002.webp

Neat finds! Thanks for sharing...

I know when I took my son shooting for the first time, he kept a casing to take back and show his friends. Now I wouldn't ever let him take it to school, especially in this day and age, but I'm guessing that it's probably a prevalent urge amongst boys to do so and back in the day probably more took shell casings or bullets that they had fired to show their friends. And boys being boys probaly promptly lost them out in the playgrounds while playing. Atleast one can hope thats how that sort of stuff shows up in school yards and playgrounds.
