had one but gave it to my favorite uncle, will get a new soon but instead of a detector I use my spider senses at the auctions I go to in order to find and buy lots of awesome stuff for cheap

Hello! Can anyone help me identify what is going on here with this Walking Liberty Half Dollar? I used my digital microscope to get a little closer to the coin so that I could see if the "markings" clearly spelled something out but I just cant tell if or what it says. Can anyone help? have you ever seen this before? Do you think its a double die offset or other possible solutions?

To the eye the "I" in America on the back of the coin looks like a Y or like it has horns and tail... The "C" in America on the rear of the coin looks like a d.

Good catch. I'll bump this back to the top. Hopefully someone that can help will see it.

The streaking and lines look like die deterioration to me rather than a doubled die. I noticed some die deterioration on the "AM" as well. Probably cast from an end-state reverse die.
