Strange Water Hose Nozzle

Here's a water nozzle that has a much larger thread than normal. 1 1/4" ID which I believe is 1" pipe thread. It's marked JUSTRITE and PATENTED.
Curious if anyone has run across one of these. I don't recall seeing garden hose's other than with the standard connections. Any one know what it was used for?
I'm guessing 40's or 50's on the age, but if you think different, let me know.

Hi VHS07, Nice find! That appears to be a standard fire hose nozzle, of the kind found in apartment building hallways. 1 1/4" hose is a size we still use on engines and brush trucks. Break out the Brasso! Sub

Yes, that is a standard fire hose size. We used to have a nozzle just like that on a tug I used to ride.
