I don't know about that one. The N is backwards but the C is not. Someone may have been up to some funny business. Keep a hold of that one though.

at first I thought someone may have pressured two pennies together, so I did a little experiment and put two pennies in a vise and squeezed the vise as tight as i could get it, then loosened it up and there was absolutely no mark on either penny??

Try putting a small stack of pennies ( 4 or 5 ) into a vise and squeezing them together really hard and you should get results. I have tried it and the results look like your picture.
Throwing a dime into the stack makes a neat impression too.

You won't be able to do it with a hand vice, but if you play around at work with an arbor press or rotary drop hammer putting 20,000 lbs to 40,000 lbs PSI or so on a couple cents you might get a similar result.

Most Likely.

I wouldn't want to say Definately.
But I would say most coin dealers would pass it off
as Fake without even Looking.

When you turn it that way, Hmmm.

Definately, some type of "pressed" impression against the back of another penny.

Good call; jeff of pa and VERMONTPACKRAT.

Looks like either at the mint a penny stuck to the die and made the impression or someone did it themselves

Yes your penny is fake, here is why if you look near the top you can see the identation of another penny pressing against this one from the same side. If it was a mint mistake the indention would come from the other side pertruding outward not inward.

I agree, a simple mechanics shop press that presses bearings and so on
agree, fake or experiment

Of those letters, the N is the only one that looks different upsidedown. The C, E, and O all look the same inverted.

I used to do this as a kid.

Stack 3 pennies up on the sidewalk and hit them with your dads best hammer.

The middle one will look cool.
