Yep, that’s what I would tell my wife I was doing at the strip joint as well. Who said metal detectorist weren’t clever. I’ve hunted “strip mines” before as well.

Coins are everywhere, dug over 100 in the first hour. One small silver ring, 3 nickels, and 1.5 million pull tabs. No gold...yet. The large gravel and compact bed below it makes for tough digging, didn’t attempt any5hing deeper than about 3 inches. Going back tomorrow.

I dug a driveway like that one time. I took a water hose and eat a hole thru it to every target.
