The 2nd day of working this new permission has been interesting. Last year I detected a yard a block from this site and pulled coins from the 20's and 30's. This yard, however, seems to have gotten stuck in a time capsule of the 1940's. Yesterday, the wheats were all from the 40's, the Merc was 1941 and the Rosie was 1947. Today was much of the same.......3 1940's wheats, a 1947 King George Canadian cent and 2 war nickels, 1944P and 1945P.......
I did enjoy digging the lead toy soldiers, too..........

Nice. Those are some great finds, hopefully you’ll find a ‘42 walker in there

Thanks. They were down about 12" and took some time. I'm really pleased much of the paint is still intact.

Thank you, Joe. There's more ground to cover, but think I'll give that one a rest. The neighbor next to this property was digging out roots in front and back of his house. He's next!!

Your soldiers are Barclay, made about 1936, and had steel helmets held on to their heads by a small spring pin. One soldier has a French horn, the other is kneeling and firing. Cheers, Sub 8-)

I have yet to find a War Nickel but would love to. Those lead soldiers are way cool.
Just think what they would have meant to a little boy so long ago! Great hunt!

Thanks, Tommy. The toys are in my little display case. I've been fortunate lately with the silver. Skunked only once the past 2 weeks. Keep asking, someone will give you the go ahead.
