Wanting to go somewhere new (ish) this weekend. My last (2) trips upriver from Mineral Bar / Iowa bridge have not been as productive as I would like. Water is going down quickly, leaving my old faithful gravel bar with little to no current for my sluice. Haven't been out to Yankee's for a while, thinking might be time to go back that way.

Got to check out Euchre earlier this week....
Was very cool...but VERY steep.

Thinking about Yankee Jim's also, should be easy to get across the creek. Water will be going down sooner this spring.

Euchre bar is one of my favorites; for the scenery more than anything. Pretty steep drop to the water.

I'm heading out to YJ or to the SF American up stream of the bridge. Free parking on the south side of the bridge if early. Mostly just fine gold so far.

How did you get to euchre trailhead?

Took the Alta exit off of Hwy 80, I'll have to look again to be sure, but you take Casa Loma Rd...Believe there were signs for "Iron Point"? I just googled Euchre Bar trail head, should get you there.
I actually already forgot about that day ! So many since, but this was a really fun day, and I do not believe I managed to even runa a sample ran ....

Going to have to make a trip back there...But beware, when they say, Pretty steep to the river, they Really mean it !

Yeah, the going down is the easy part too - If you plan on doing a day trip, pack light and realize you will only get about four hours by the water.

I can make it down to the bridge in about 20 minutes if I wear trail running shoes and actually run down (with small pack, only small tools, 10" Pan).

Otherwise plan on about 45-60 minutes down (from trail-head, add another 5-10 minutes to get there from parking) and a grueling 2 hours back up!
Its the way back up that kills you!

Btw, If you do go down there and head north of the bridge along the river, if you can locate a good size boulder out in the water I left a good golf ball size quartz/gold specimen there along with my KABAR knife . If they haven't been swept away anyone is welcome to keep the knife, I just hate to think of it wasting away in the river.

Need to plan an overnight trip there for sure. Im seeing a couple of good spots both Up and downstream from that bridge on google earth. Great rocks and banks!

Yeah - google earth is a great tool, just don't rely on it to much for planning. If you were going to do an overnight I would highly recommend just taking a scouting trip first that way you don't waste time trying to find a suitable camping location when you pack in. Do a little test panning, find out what areas are worth working. Bring protection from the snakes, bears, cats and transients.
