I've found three of these at one of my sites at work. I can't read anything on them even when cleaned up. It looks narrow for suspenders. Backpack straps maybe? Found at 1901' site. I was seeing if it was WW1 related since I've gotten several war items but can't find any with that curvature

That does seem a good possibility. But really, it could be just about anything that had an adjustable strap on it. (That's what it looks like to me, a sliding buckle to adjust strap length.)
