The Baby oil is only good for gnats and blackflies
these skeeters will laugh at baby oil.
They require a 12 gauge and a special users licence or a bird stamp to hunt.
It is the unofficial Colorado state bird.

I looked at GJ in Google Earth...yes, those Tiger Swallowtails keep moving and too hard to get close to. But last year was photographing a Painted Lady butterfly...a Tiger Swallowtail landed just as getting ready to shoot. I quickly snapped 3 fast shots and it was gone. I'll start a new thread for that...wish someday could get some nice close shots of rattlesnakes, scorpions, maybe a Tarantula too...

If you google Grand Junction look at the area around it outside the influence of the irrigation.

Now there is a desert. the annual rainfall is less than Tucson AZ.
This canyon is about 40 miles away.

I was looking above, noticed those roads in there. I got the place marked in Google Earth.

I never post a coordinate for anything.
That includes Google Earth pics.
I don't post them because they show the location off.
I have found that google earth has lost a lot of quality lately and the pix aren't as clear.
You can't zoom in as close either.... What's up with that?

I will try them all before I choose one for the next look.
Just doesn't seem to matter much anymore. you can't get in close enough to see much.

I think terrorists were looking at google earth too much, so they dumbed it down.

Could be,
Boy it sure did ruin the tool.
It is hard now to get close enough to see a small tailings pile.
or a hole that isn't visible on the ground.

If it isn't a big thing GE is almost a waste of time.
Kinda sad.

Have you tried microsoft's virtual earth? I usually use it to get detailing on terrain where GE takes a dump. It also has a birds eye view option that does great work for areas that have been aerial photographed, nice stuff. Here's a screenshot
