I'm thinking it's just a navy motif civilian button goldencoin... It may well have been used on a bathing suit but is/was typically considered a blazer/jacket button. I base that on how the design differs from actual Navy service buttons.

Can you describe any markings on the back? Does it say anything?

The back of it is gone. I only found the thin outer part of it.

Can't say i ever seen one like it, but it 's a nice looking button, Congrats!!!
Looks like it would make a nice display item..
Continued Good luck & Happy hunting~

I would agree with the majority and say "Navy", really doubt it is a swimsuit button. If you find any more information on it, would like to hear it.

Thanks for the replies. I found it close to the swimming area of a lake so I was thinking maybe it was from one of those blue/white stiped navy looking bathing suits that people wear. I'd like to think its got some kind of history to it other than popping off somebodys bathing suit, LOL.

If it is a keeper the good news is there was 1 or 2 other strong signals around the same hole that after 20 mins. of looking for I gave up. :-[
