Sometimes you will have to start taking a carving apart to find out what the meaning is about, you may want to start looking for features that have a meaning that, you may need to consider this a starting point, more than likely it is a trail of sorts and look at the surrounding terrain, hills, mountans, river, creeks and that's just a guess on my part.
