"T",Spike?

My boss found this on his ranch that dates back to the 1850's.He is thinking something to do with rope making?I dunno.It has a beveled edge like a dagger,is 8-9 inches long,and appears to be hand forged. :dontknow:

How big is it? It looks like it could be used as a prick for a cannon.

It is long enough. If the diameter is small enough to go down a touch hole then it could be!
