T2 WHAT HAPPENED /

I'm with you never has emi problems. I believe there has been so much talk of the issue that people that have never used one will tell you that t2s have a problem with emi just because they have heard it somewhere. An example would be how many times have you read a explorer is hard to find nickels and gold rings with. People that really know how to use them know that's hogwash but it keeps getting repeated so it must be true. I believe the T2 is a easily overpowered detector that takes time to learn how to adapt to different situations but does so very well.

It's really not about a statement being repeated. As I stated earlier, if there was no problem with EMI, why did FT offer the upgrade program which included DST and still build them with this feature? For FT to create/install the DST feature based on the statements of "people that have never used one" but will "tell you that the t2s have a problem because they heard it somewhere"; now that would be more like hogwash my friend.:laughing7:

First I wasn't singling your statement. Maybe they did the upgrade to sell more detectors without coming up with a new model. Maybe they were addressing the overblown emi problem that comes up everytime the T2 or F75 is brought up. I've read over and over on both t2 and F75 and for that matter many others the problems with said detectors from people who have never used them but have read on this forum or that forum of said problem. When I first got my t2 I thought I might have problems I would try to deal with them but after learning to use it the so called problem just isn't there.

All I can say is

Keppy,

To answer your question, First Texas didn't say why they reintroduced the T2....But that they are brand new T2s, without the features of the SE and without the DST added to the SE last fall.

I think they have positioned it price wise in a great spot, as there are few machines with its capabilities at the price point.

And as you all know- buy from a reputable dealer so that you can avoid the fakes. The one in that video is impressive in appearance, but I doubt it performs like a real T2.

I would have to say it is a good price for the T2 ..For the type of detector it is you can not get that type detector for that price until now ....

Since I hunt with guys who own the T2 and we go head to head with my F75. I dont see your point, its a great deal for a great detector. EMI, boost, and cache mode is less than 10% of your hunt. You cant run full power in town anyway, and if you do you loose depth. DST you actually loose depth Im told. But Boost Process is worth what ever they want to charge for it.

The last few months I have tried a little experiment where I hunted with my new AT Pro against a T2. What I seen was the ATP picked up on most targets the T2 did. I actually was able to identify iron targets better with the ATP after getting used to it. In town you do not need super deep machines. But if you can buy a deep machine like the T2 for less than say a ATP, why would you hesitate?

Just can't beat a BOUNTY HUNTER I mean Teknetics !!! It sounds almost like my Time ranger in all metal mode !!!

At this price it's almost entry level. But this is a detector that just a few years ago won the Grand National Relic hunt. I wouldn't consider it entry level. It is hotter than most but I consider that a good thing. My Ltd has boost and cache which are just a gimmicks as far as I'm concerned. As far as the update at least half of the reviews say they neutered it and lost depth.

I totally agree on that. The Omega is the same way. Running sens @ 70 is plenty hot in my experience. The Omega is so sensitive that is easily overpowered as well. Even when emi requires a lower sensitivity number, you don't lose alot of depth.

T2 is a beast. It can hunt. 40 notches of discrimination makes it a very good detector. They should supply Sampson diggers with it. I would call a T2 a top of the line detector. Easy to learn. Lot of depth and sensitivity. With the new lines out and the price right on First Texas detectors why buy anything else. Unless your in need of a gimmick detector. You can't go wrong with a T2.

With the Omega 8500 getting ready to come out, the new Omega may best the older T2, and the new Omega will be priced in the area the T2 vacated. Smart business decision, IMO.

It is rather strange (but good for the Omega 8500) that it will have a backlight where as the T2 wasn't given that option. Having a backlight never mattered to me but it is a good selling point for potential buyers.

Back light helps in low light conditions. My buddy and his T2 has had to quit hunting in the early evenings when I could continue. Folks who don't have that kind of time won't need a back light.

I suppose he's deaf also?

Some folks hunt by vdi. The accuracy of the T2 vdi on his machine is uncanny.

I like TID if hunting in a park (where most targets I find in the 4"-6" range) for comparison. Sound first, obviously, but fun to look at the TID number before digging the target. TID goes out the window beyond 6" for sure. Not a good idea to rely solely on TID.

You are absolutely right, if you rely on tid you will be missing alot of deep coins.
