Had to knock the cobwebs off the Fisher and take advantage of some temporary localized global warming.
An after work hunt in an all too familiar field. I decided to hunt along the old roadbed and right away I got a good loud signal. Several inches deep, up pops a neat little brass buckle, not terribly old I'm thinking, but a good start. The snow was still melting off the field and it felt like we were skating on permafrost. Each step I got taller. Digging wasn't too bad and the flat buttons, whatsits and square nails were plentiful. I dug an unusual "flower" button, or maybe "leaf" button in this case. The backmark is of W H Jones & Co. which dates it to the 1830's. A cool button and I think it's the second one I've dug in this field. I was there long enough to realize this area needs more attention. Tomorrow we coinshoot and as long as the weather holds out, we'll be doing more relic hunts, coin shoots, privy digs etc. see ya then
