The reason is Cuba is ruled by a communist dictator who has no respect for basic human rights. Maybe you should talk to some of the Cubans who escaped. I personally know one whose parents were both executed.

Why would you want to spend your vacation in a totalitarian chithole anyway? Remember, the money you spend there supports the oppressive government.

Thanks a lot guys for the replies. A lot of varied responses, but one underlieing theme. Don't do it. Well that sucks! lol Ya, I was just planning on goofing around out in front of the hotel. Not like I'm on a Cuban public beach or anything, not like I was sneaking out in a dingy in the middle of the night to pillage a site, so safety wasn't a concern for me. But I was hoping being a nice Canadian tourist (Cuba and Canada get along great since the Trudeau era, they love us here. Just not our friends (you Imperialist Americans who won't lift an ancient trade embargo that servers no real purpose anymore) LOL. That's a story for another time. Now all this means squat to a Cuban customs official who is probably hip deep in their black market. So I guess my wee little yellow buddy stays home. Why amm I going to like the only Carribean Is. that I can't take my MD too DOH!

I feel bad that you can't detect in Cuba lots of old colonial sites and virgin beaches. But look on the bright side, you can still go there. I feel the same about the embargo and I wish I could. Best of luck to you!
