TD Bag Trade - Magician's coin for Sterling Ag

I went to a TD Bank to make deposits for work today. The tellers were 'fixing' the Penny Arcade when I walked in, and I noticed a white shiny half on top of the few coins in the bag.

I asked the tellers for any loose halves and had none! I needed atleast one to try to do the coin switch out of the bag!

Well, luckily, I had found my first two magicians coins last week, and I found one in my car while frantically searching for any loose half. I desperately tried to put it back together (i had thrown it repeatedly on the ground in another banks parking lot to get it open last week, and it was not closing.)

I finally got it closed and rushed in, made the trade for the "ben" in the bag, but it wasn't a Ben - it was this awesome 1917 Canadian silver 50 cent piece. I ran out before the magicians coin popped back open! My first silver Canadian 50 cent piece.

"I love the look of fresh silver in my stack - it looks like....victory."

Sounds like you were in the right place at the right time!!! Nice find!!

Nice! By the title of your post, I was wondering where you found a sucker to trade you silver for a magician's coin.

Congrats!

Super cool, I would trade 10 magician coins for that silver piece.
It's value is about 17$ in vG condition.

Cool find! Are magician's coins basically regular halves that have been cut and hollowed?

Yes, but they may contain a foreign coin (usually an old British penny or Mexican 20 centavos) or a copper blank inside of them.
