Tesoro Tejon
Primary Interest:
Relic Hunting
Had my Tejon out this morning. About three hours into it and it died. I was hunting all metal with the threshold hum. Heard less than a half second of static and then it went silent. Now it won't turn on. The conditions were wet from last night's rain, but it wasn't raining today when I was out and I made sure not to lay the unit on it's side when I recovered a target. I know it didn't have any water on it. So, I'm sure it's not a moisture issue. Guess I'll be sending it to Tesoro for a fix. Bummer.

Abt 1996 I had a tesoro pantera and was out in the field when had Horses Running lose,so I sat Detector Down and had trouble rounding up and got thrown.
Wasn,t badly injured but didn,t think abt My detector until next day and it had rained hard that nite.
I found the detector, poured the water out and removed the batts,Dried detector for 2 days I think.
New batteries and it worked fine..
I hope that works for you, maybe broken battery wire,or -clip is loose fit on the battery?

Hopefully, I get the Tejon back this week. Hunted a bit with my 250 and did find another rifle ball, but I don't have a whole lot of confidence in it anymore. I have lots of cool finds with the 250, but the Tejon is definitely a more superior machine for relic hunting.

Swartzie, you didn't say if you changed the batteries of not. Hope you aren't using rechargables batteries or Lithium's because they don't work well in Tesoro's. If it was me and it was just needing fresh batteries I don't think I'd tell anyone. Lots of my friends think I am half a deck short now because I metal detect for coins in the dirt. :coffee2:

I did check the batteries. Put new ones in, checked the voltages with a meter, etc... It just up and died. I did call tesoro today and they said they just shipped it back on Monday. So, I should have it back for the weekend. Yay! Too bad I have to work this Saturday. Saturday mornings are my favorite time to hunt.

I'm sorry to hear that.

Got it back today after work. The problem was a cold solder joint and a broken lead. Yikes! Maybe my searching with the threshold hum creates more heat in the electronics and that's what made the joint finally give out. Although if it had been a good joint to start with it wouldn't have happened in the first place. Anyway, Tesoro fixed it right up and returned it quickly with no cost to me.
