Got to go to a friend of the family's house a couple days ago! They live on a big farm that has been there since the 1800's. Anyway, there used to be a tenant house on their property from the mid 1800's to about 1930's or early 40's, when it was taken down, and rebuilt in a different location. Pottery and glass shards littered the ground, because they people who lived here just threw their trash out their front door. Found a lot of nails, bottle caps, but coolest find, a 1946 rabbis vaccine dog tag from Philly! I haven't even started detecting the place were they threw the majority of their trash, or the house site. This was just the area in front of the house. Anyway, hopefully today, or maybe tomorrow, I am going back to search the house site and backyard! And while I was first there, with a bit of Southern hospitality, the woman who lives there brought me out some cookies she had just made, some water, and said I could come in at any time if I wanted to stay for lunch or for some sweet tea. :)

Just come in at ANY time...............Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm............HH

And here I am thinking, "Oh how sweet of that lady, Dihren's got it made." And then Gunrunner comes along to ruin the image, "Oh how sweet of that lady, Dihren's got it MADE!" HAHAHAHAHA! Good one, Gunrunner!

Anyway, Dihren, either way, I think you got it made : ) Keep us posted as to what you find!

Haha thanks! Definitely will!

I'm going back there today! Wish me luck!

Cougar? what? haha

Your sweet tea lady : )

Well just got back! After a pretty long and hot hunt, followed of course my more tea and homemade cookies, I got a couple keepers. First was this toy cap gun! Any idea on how I can date it or does anyone out there have an idea of how old it is? Would there be a date anywhere? Next is either a bracelet or just some metal ring? Cannot see any marking on the inside, and looks like it might have been silver plated at one time from the bits of silver still left on the surface. The inside ring is smooth, but the outside is ridged. Any help or input on either of these items would be great, including the best way to clean them!

Cool toy gun! I have one I picked up somewhere and researched awhile ago. If no one has any info here, there are a few really good sites out there to help you id. Unfortunately, I took the info I found and never bookmarked the sites....sorry.

Thanks! Haven't seen my gun yet but ti might just be there hidden. Any idea on cleaning?

Sorry, no clue, but there are tons of tips here Cleaning & Preservation

Probably none specifically on cleaning cap guns, but ya never know : )

Thanks Catobra!

On gun--try baking soda or water; or else, tooth paste-scrub it with an old tooth brush.

Thanks Southern Digger! HH
