Relic Hunting
I was going over my records on detecting before the Trio hunt this morning and was amazed to see the Civil War relic totals dug by the Trio during the last 3 months. If you view our posts you have seen that we have been putting most of our efforts into two sites. On Dec. 6, I scouted a site discovered in the 1970s that had been closed to hunting for 10 years. We owe a well-known veteran Tenn. relic hunter for suggesting that we check it out. He said that we may “find a few bullets”. To date, the Trio had recovered 446 relics from the site. The odd thing about this camp is the astonishing number of Williams Cleaner bullets. Over 40% of the relics recovered have been complete or parts of Williams Cleaners. We call it the Williams Cleaner camp. An article on our hunts at this camp will be published in a fall issue of American Digger Magazine. On Feb. 11, I scouted an area near a farm where we recovered some bullets last spring and stumbled on a virgin U. S. picket camp. The Trio began hunting that camp after my scouting trip and has recovered 194 relics from that site including today’s hunt. Josh dug a trigger guard assy. and I dug the first Eagle "I" Union Infantry Officer's button from the camp in today's 2 hour hunt as shown in the collage pic. These site hunts and finds will be published in one of the relic publications this year. Our 7 boxes of relics from the 2 sites are shown in the pics. Relics from these two sites totals 640 relics in the last three months not including another 60+ from other sites as I know I have dug 36 relics of the 60+. It will be hard to top these numbers for any 3 months in the future. HH, from Doug, Josh, & Quindy.

Quindy,
The Tenn Trio are hard to beat Buddy!!! Your ever growing CW relic displays are outstanding. Seems like just yesterday you guys started on those spots, and just l@@k how much you have recovered. That William's Cleaner Camp has to be one of my favorites of yours.
Great job on scouting out new spots to detect.
Your video skills have come a long way too. Awesome job. I love that song.:occasion14:

I sure hope there are a few relics for me to dig over there. :tongue3:

Great post. Congrats to the Trio!

Good that the newest issue is coming out. I will be waiting for it and look forward to reading up on the hunt.

That's a lot of cleaning going on there. :tongue3:
So I've seen you post all these Williams cleaners and dug these Williams cleaners, but I never really knew exactly what it was they were suppose to do. So I looked it up. 8-)

Thanks OD, Casper-2, Johnny, Mark, Bill, MM, Pointman, & Nana. John Paul Strain paints some great pictures. Seminole Wind is a great song as well. We'll try to keep the videos coming. HH, Quindy.

That was a lot of fun digging the relics. Maybe we will get a bunch more this weekend.

In all fairness OD & MM, I am retired and still take care of beef cattle while Doug & Josh still work. I was the first in & have hunted the sites many more times than they have. Q.

Good stuff Q, I can't keep up with you guys. But I'll give my best shot. May take a few years. lol Nice going. HH....

Great relics! You guys gather them by the ton! Guess you had a ton of fun getting them too! Congrats!

That's fantastic, Quindy. AMAZING how much really is still out there. Those virgin sites do exist.

Thanks G2. We've been lucky and froze our butts off to get this done. HH, Q.

It was a lot of fun MSBB. The picket camp was a pleasant surprise & we went over 200 relics there yesterday. HH, Q.

They are getting few and far between in Tennessee Matt. When you do find them, you have to be very secretive about the location & turn your phone GPS off for sure or you'll be poached. Good luck in the Old Dominion, Q.
