I was going over my records on detecting before the Trio hunt this morning and was amazed to see the Civil War relic totals dug by the Trio during the last 3 months. If you view our posts you have seen that we have been putting most of our efforts into two sites. On Dec. 6, I scouted a site discovered in the 1970s that had been closed to hunting for 10 years. We owe a well-known veteran Tenn. relic hunter for suggesting that we check it out. He said that we may “find a few bullets”. To date, the Trio had recovered 446 relics from the site. The odd thing about this camp is the astonishing number of Williams Cleaner bullets. Over 40% of the relics recovered have been complete or parts of Williams Cleaners. We call it the Williams Cleaner camp. An article on our hunts at this camp will be published in a fall issue of American Digger Magazine. On Feb. 11, I scouted an area near a farm where we recovered some bullets last spring and stumbled on a virgin U. S. picket camp. The Trio began hunting that camp after my scouting trip and has recovered 194 relics from that site including today’s hunt. Josh dug a trigger guard assy. and I dug the first Eagle "I" Union Infantry Officer's button from the camp in today's 2 hour hunt as shown in the collage pic. These site hunts and finds will be published in one of the relic publications this year. Our 7 boxes of relics from the 2 sites are shown in the pics. Relics from these two sites totals 640 relics in the last three months not including another 60+ from other sites as I know I have dug 36 relics of the 60+. It will be hard to top these numbers for any 3 months in the future. HH, from Doug, Josh, & Quindy.
