The Tennessee Trio reunited for a morning hunt today. Yesterday, I scouted a site and Josh scouted another site. Josh’s site produced a 1842 LC, lead nipple protector, brass chain, and a flat button so we opted to hunt his site. At the least, it was an old 1800s home site.
Dman had the best find today with the Republic of Texas button. He is cleaning it tonight and, due to some corrosion in the center of the star, we’ll have to wait to see if it has the “I”, “D” for Dragoon, or nothing in the center. Our understanding from a local relic dealer is they were issued in 1837. More details to follow.
Josh had a big day as he dug two (2) half Reales. One was 1805 and the other is worn pretty smooth. He also dug his first ball button today. We had information that there was CW activity in that site but aside from the carved lead nipple protector and Doug’s Texas button possibly being dropped by a CSA Soldier, we found no evidence of a CW camp. There is a CW road nearby however. Enjoy the video and Happy Thanksgiving from the Trio.
UPDATE: Actually, I had the Best Find today. Our first Grandchild “Morgan Ashby Robertson”, a healthy 8 lb. 9 oz. baby girl was born about 10 pm. Dman says it won’t be long before she is tagging along with the Trio and digging relics-LOL.
BUTTON UPDATE: Doug cleaned the Texas button (pic later). He says it definitely reads "Republic of Texas' around the perimeter with nothing in the star center. When he sends a new pic for me to post, it is definitely BANNER material.
