Tenn. Trio Takes A 3 Hour Tour of U.S. Camp-Congrats Dman & MM-Best Finds

Last Friday, all members of the “Trio” had individual afternoon activities requiring our attendance so 3 hours was all the time we had to hunt.
To help him expand his CW relic hunting experience, Dman and I were both aware that Josh had never dug any artillery related artifacts and he really wanted to add a few to his fast growing and impressive collection of CW artifacts.
About midmorning, we met at a middle Tennessee U.S. camp where Union Artillery, Cavalry, and Infantry units spent over three years of the war. Josh had not been there 5 minutes until he dug his first piece of iron canister. They read a solid “10” on the F75 display. The size that we recover in this site measure a little under an inch in diameter as you can see in the first picture. I was down the hill digging a .54 cal. Bullet when I heard Dman tell Josh that he had dug an Eagle ”I” coat size button with his old detector and pointing out the location near a small tree In about 3 minutes, Josh dug his own coat size Eagle “I” button near that same tree. We also dug some lead slugs that came from canister and shells. The square piece of iron at the bottom right of the first pic was not a square nut but a piece identified by a CW Artillery book author as “metal shop scrap used as case shot”. In other words, a “filler” as it was as deadly as lead in CW ordinance. Dman found the little piece of pistol cylinder and tried to convince Josh that it was from a CW boot pistol but Josh was thinking “toy” pistol instead-LOL.
Josh had repeatedly told us that he has always wanted to dig a knapsack hook since he started relic hunting with us. We knew that we had dug 5 or more hooks from that site in previous hunts since late 2008 and just maybe he would find one. Well, that’s Josh in the last pic with his first knapsack hook. He was as happy with it as he would have been over a plate-LOL. Since he found the last Eagle button, he's on the hook for lunch until someone else in the Trio finds one. He actually accused Dman and I of planting it-LOL. Happy hunting from the Tennessee Trio and thanks for looking, Quindy.

Congrats to Dman and Modern Miner for having their finds selected as Best Finds of 2010 by Western & Eastern Treasures Magazine. See pics BELOW!! WTG Guys, Quindy.

Hey MM and Mike, I just bought 3 for him (Trio gets discounts) about 3 weeks ago and he told Dman and myself last week that they are already FULL and he needs more. Good thing Dman's friend gives us discounts on the walnut and glass ones. HH friends, Quindy.

Thanks Quindy.
I was very excited when you called me to tellme the great news. I waited two years to make the "Best Finds" issue, but it was well worth it. Steve & Rosemary of W & ET mag are great folks and came through with flying colors. :hello2:

Congrats to Dman for his outstanding CSA buckle & well deserved entry. :occasion14:

We appreciate it Joe and good luck in Sharposburg with Colleen this weekend. We are expecting another 1-3 inches of rain and storms here on Saturday that messed up our hunt with Dixiedigger and the mighty Relic Hound that we all planned. Take care, Quindy.
