Thank you all.. for the knowledge you have shared to enable me to get started in Metal detecting. I got into this hobby to enjoy being outside and being in the water.Hunting for treasure was always a thing i wanted to try. Now i am doing it, and in a large part, successfully because of many of you. The thrill of the hunt is great, finding treasure is awesome.. reaping the rewards of MY Labours shows me that i can enjoy this and Profit. My morals and " Karma" are just FINE. Sharing what i have found with you all has been a thrill, but time to let Ego go. As far as the world goes.. i clean up beer caps, fishing wieghts, and other trash from our beaches and reefs.

Tough break about the ring that was "claimed". I for one am 100% for returning class rings, service rings, superbowl rings, anything with a name in it. But, as far as an umarked valuable, the ol' "finders keepers, losers weepers" clause goes into effect for me. Really, if the ring, chain, necklace, bracelet, whatever really meant that much to them why didn't they make more of an effort to find it or have it found when it was lost and why on earth would they wear it to the beach. This is one reason that I will not post pictures of jewelry. I haven't posted any pics at all due to equipment requirements but when I do it will only be of relics, coins and returnalble rings. Just found out that my $600 camcorder doesn't have a usb connection? It's only about 3 years old? I thought every single electronic gismo made in the last 10 years had a usb connection. And it's a really good Sony Handycam with the mini dvd discs. I am going to get a digital camera for the sole purpose of posting (some of) my finds. Anyway keep your head up dude you have found plenty and will find plenty more. If the ring does belong to them then all is well and right, if not then they will have to live with it, not you. The ring had been lost for 3 years? I am sure they must be overjoyed about you returning it to them. They certainly had a lucky day. I guess I am lucky I only found junk so far - except those gold teeth!

Anyway, I bet there is good luck in store for you for returning that ring!
