No, CSW was not serious. However, don't dismiss CoinStar entirely. There are a bunch of fee-free options with CoinStar. If you plan on spending any $ at Amazon, Lowes, Sears, JCPenny, Chili's, or a number of other places, just take the fee-free gift card option. I do it repeatedly and have never paid a fee. I like to take dimes and dump them directly from the vault bag into CoinStar and let their machine find the Ag for me.

Fee free options are discussed here: http://www.coinstar.com/freecoincounting

If you are in a Krogers or Albertsons market for grocery, you've got a great opportunity for fee-free coinstar dumps.

Right and I did that for the better part of two penny boxes. But I think for most fo us the thought is we want that $500 invested in a new box, not in Blooming Onions at Outback. :tongue3:

And don't forget your gas. Right, Easy?

Yes, DON'T forget your gas. And coin star as an option isn't going to work unless you spend thousands of dollars at amazon every month. It is true however that it will spit silver into the reject tray.

Find a bank willing to take your bag deposit and give you cash immediately. That's what I do.

Coinstar as a single dump solution is not a good approach for the serious hunter. It can, however, be used as a relief occasionally if you have any big purchases planned at Lowes for example. Or, for the casual hunter who dumps a few hundred$ per month and who buys groceries at Albertson's. There was a post recently where OP mentioned a pickup bank in Albertson's. The grocery shopping routine for that hunter could be: 1) Grab $150 in dimes from the pickup bank. 2) Crack them open at the CoinStar and drop them directly in. 3) Scoop the Ag Roosie's from the reject tray. 4) Select the Albertson's gift card. 5) Load the shopping cart with grub (and some wine + cheese to celebrate the find). 6) Pay with the Fee-Free Coinstar slip. 7) Repeat every 8-10 days.

Now that's efficiency !

So Coinstar rejects silver? I'll test it, I'll do an even trade for groceries or beer/wine. I was appalled by the fees on cash though. I could never do it. Can someone explain the coin flow logistics behind Coinstar machines? I want to push all the clad from a city of about 200,000 people south to a city of over million people and bring in a bunch of fresh boxes of halves.

I might re-roof the house so I could spend several thousand at Lowes. This might get me an opportunity to bring in more coins to my city if the coinage flows to some clearing house.

Also, when do banks send out CWR? I've got several boxes ordered and try not to ever dump in my city so I don't get bogged down. I know of another hunters marks "JWR" goes on his or her rolls, he also leaves a frowns face on his coins, one per roll, that he has picked.

I am taking some classes in Nursing at a local community college and just pissed off the manager by dumping a few hundred on books. She wanted my name and number in case any rolls were short. I gave it to her, but assured her I wouldn't leave any short. I suppose they use one of my banks, but at least I'm not dumping back at any banks.

I like how you get to keep "whore" in your name. My original name was crhwhore, but was forced to change it. About coinstar, if you don't want to go that route, you can just throw handfuls out of the car window while you're driving as a way to dump. Nobody likes clad anyway.

We have already sent PM to him requesting he change his name.....

Either ask for rolls when you pick up your box, or just re-use the original wrapper. I've never been able to stuff them back in either, so I cut the side with a box cutter and (sometimes) tape it shut when I'm done.

Confidence is key. I'd bring them to your dump bank rolled and confidently tell them you want cash (or deposit). At this point you can ask if you have more in the future there is a way they prefer coin to be brought in, at which point they will likely offer you the bag if that is an option.
