the best detector you would buy used in the $500 range?UPDATE: found my baby!!

Re: what is the best detector you would buy used in the $500 range?

I would pick up a good used cz5 or cz6, they still hold there own exsp. when it comes to raw depth. The new dogs have better coils when it comes to unmasking and hunting in heavy trash but, in average trash and soil just slow the cz down like u would with old Tesoro or etrac and watch the silver pop out.

WOW!.....

you said 'about $500' .... and people are listing 'V3' and 'F75' ???

yeah... maybe on Ebay from someone desperate and dumping a machine. it does happen....

I'd get a Minelab 505 for that price range. I have the 705 as my first detector and IT WAS TIGHT! the tones, adjusting everything, depth, etc. +you can change the coils on the Xterras and get different frequencies.....

the 505 is a tuned down 705, and a modified 305 .... best bang for a buck unless you want to add $95 and get an AT-Pro ???

Minelab Explorer II used. One of Best trashy park hunter there is.I've found around 900 silver coins with it in 4 years,I switched from Whites M6 to it and had no problem in quickly picking it up.The AT Pro seems interesting as you can also water hunt with it and saves you from having to have another machine.Good luck!

I agree, I don't understand "the long learning curve" regarding the Explorer II. I was popping silvers within 5 minutes of use. I did plant a small coin garden to first become familiar with the machine. Makes all the difference in the world.

Re:UPDATE:best detector you would buy used in the $500 range?i found my baby

so i ended up spending a few extra bucks and buying a new garrett at pro, after reading about it and watching some youtube vids i thought it is right up my alley and cant wait to use it , only problem is i think i might have to wait till spring now the ground is frozen!
thanks for helping me with my decision everyone!

snowdogg70, my kids bought one for me at Christmas of 1991. I had to wait til around April of 1992 to begin detecting due to frozen ground. Patience grasshopper, your time will come. I've upgraded 2 times since and have a DFX.
